Westley K. Chun, Ph.D., P.E., DEE, F.ASCE
Chair - Region 8 Board of Governors
Mr. Chun was elected director of Region 8 in 2006. He holds a bachelor of science, a master of science, and a doctorate in civil engineering. A diplomate of the American Academy of environmental Engineers, he is a licensed professional engineer in Hawaii, Guam, and California. He is a senior project manager for CH2M Hill and works out of the firm's Honolulu office. He has planned and designed water and wastewater systems along the West Coast, in Alaska, in Hawaii, on various islands in the Pacific, in Southeast Asia, and in eastern Europe. His projects have received awards from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), the American Institute of Architects, and the National Water Research Institute. He currently chairs the Hawaii Council of Engineering Societies and is a former president of ASCE's Hawaii Section. While he was serving on its Executive Committee, the section was recognized as Zone IV's oustanding large section four years in a row, including the year that Chun served as section president. He is active in the local chapters of the American Public Works Association, the ACEC, and the Water Environment Federation and has been instrumental in establishing task forces and associations to protect public health and safety.
